From 3 July 2026, the Primary PRU will not be accepting new referrals or conducting observations (unless agreed on a case-by-case basis). This is because end of year events and activities to support pupils transitioning to new classrooms and teachers do not a give a sufficiently clear picture of pupil needs, and therefore the level and type of support from the PRU cannot be properly considered. If you do send a referral after 3 July, please note that we will not be taking that forward this academic year, and you will need to re-submit in September with the most up to date information about the needs of the pupil.
If you have a concern about a child that cannot wait, please do get in contact with us in the usual way as we are happy to still offer advice.
Please refer pupils in the new academic year, after a settling in period, if they still require support.
Thank you for all of your support for the PRU during the last year. We hope that our work with you has helped inform strategies and support for your pupils, and we look forward to working with you in 2026/27.
